SPEED THROUGH CADENCE
The Katana is the signature race board of multiple ISA and ICF World Champion Shuri Araki, designed around a high-cadence paddling style. Developed with his father and coach Takuji Araki, it introduces a racing philosophy focused on precision, efficiency and rhythm, delivering a fast, effortless glide inspired by the speed and sharpness of a katana sword.
4 x🥇 From last month’s Spanish “World Sup Festival ”(25–26 April) competition, held amid strong winds and huge swells, to the Austrian “LAKE ROCKS FESTIVAL”(16-17 May) competition, which took place on a lake with perfectly flat waters.
Shuri Araki achieved a truly significant feat, winning two gold medals each in the Long Distance & Technical events and a total of four gold medals in both races, which were held under completely opposite conditions, using only one “KATANA”

Description
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THE SHAPE?
The Katana is designed for elite racers who paddle at high cadence with precision. It feels fast, light, and highly responsive, with sharp straight-line tracking and excellent stability at speed. The narrow Box Tail™ allows the board to lift and accelerate forward efficiently, encouraging a rhythmic pumping motion rather than long, powerful strokes.
Built for racers aiming to compete at the highest level.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS
Developed around Shuri Araki’s proven high-cadence paddling technique for elite-level efficiency.
A patented tail design that combines straight-line stability with unprecedented maneuverability.
Raced to multiple ISA and ICF world titles by Shuri Araki at the highest level of competition.
Key Features
NARROW BOX TAIL™
A unique tail design that lifts and accelerates the board forward, enabling efficient pumping while maintaining strong straight-line stability.
REARWARD STANDING POSITION
Standing area positioned further back to optimise trim and fully engage the Box Tail™, helping generate forward propulsion.
VERY HARD TAIL RAIL EDGES
Sharp rail edges at the tail act like additional fins, improving tracking and reducing reliance on the main fin
SHARP PIERCING NOSE
Inspired by the Katana sword, the sharp nose slices through water and chop, maintaining speed and control at high cadence.
DUGOUT DESIGN
The dugout lowers the center of gravity, increasing stability and improving control in choppy open-water conditions.
DUAL SIDE DRAINAGE HOLES
Drainage holes quickly evacuate water from the deck, allowing rapid recovery in technical and choppy conditions.
REFINED ROCKER PROFILE
Slightly lower nose and tail rocker than the All Star, combined with added vee to maintain glide and maneuverability.
PARALLEL SPEED OUTLINE
Parallel mid-section improves stability and glide, while the narrow nose and tail increase speed and paddling efficiency.
MULTI-STAGE VEE BOTTOM
Rounded vee nose helps glide into bumps. Vee mid-section with slight double concave improves tracking, while progressive vee tail aids buoy turns and maneuvering.
