About Bae Soyeong
Based in Gwangalli, Busan, Bae Soyeong—also known as Haebom—enjoys SUP and open-water swimming, and makes picking up litter while walking or jogging along the beach part of everyday life.
Watching children wearing masks during COVID-19 prompted her to think about the environment the next generation would inherit. Looking for something she could do herself, she headed to Gwangalli Beach with a single plastic bag. That was how her plogging journey began.
SUP and sea swimming have made the ocean a place of joy and gratitude for Haebom. Small acts of care are her way of giving something back. Sharing her plogging experiences on social media has brought new friendships, fresh challenges and the encouragement to keep going.
Small, steady steps matter more than perfection—and shared effort matters more than going alone. Guided by the belief that anyone can make a difference, she shares both her love of the sea and practical ways to care for nature as a Starboard Korea Eco Frontier.
