About technical advisor Riki Horikoshi

Surfing and SUP surfing: you can't introduce Riki Horikoshi without both. Riki is a JPSA-certified pro surfer who has competed on the WSL QS tour and, paddle in hand, represented Japan on the world stage. Riki rides for Starboard as a DREAM RIDER and works with Starboard Korea as a technical advisor.

It all started in the waves of Kugenuma, Japan. Born on 20 September 1996, Riki took up surfing seriously at the age of nine, won amateur titles in high school and moved on to the pro scene. Earning pro qualification by advancing from the qualifying rounds to a pro contest final was one milestone on that journey.

SUP surfing, taken up seriously at seventeen, opened another path in Riki's career. Riki has competed for Japan's SUP team and for Japan at ISA events, and at the ISA SUP World Championships became the first Japanese man to finish fourth, receiving a medal.
